Fuel Reformulation

Fuel reformulators improve engine cleanliness, lubricity, and performance, over time. Omstar d-1280x falls into this category, creating a requirement that it be tested for at least 15 working days.

The Dosing Period

During the first application using Omstar-treated fuel, the low molecular weight synthetic esters in the d-1280x - unlike cheap dispersants/gum solvents/deposit modifiers and cleaners - removes engine deposits without decreasing engine lubricity. At this point, fuel economy begins to improve. Oil filters should be changed at the end of the "dosing" period, because they are typically clogged with the deposits removed by d-1280x.

Iron Soap

During the cleaning period, and for the duration of the test period, the high molecular weight pentaerythritol synthetic esters in Omstar d-1280x are combining with iron molecules on metal-rubbing surfaces inside cylinders and fuel injectors, forming, through chemisorption, an "iron-soap". This "iron-soap" increases engine boundary-layer lubricity, thereby reducing engine temperature, and improving fuel economy. This is of particular importance in upper cylinder areas (where pistons change direction rapidly) which run exceedingly hot due to the lack of lubricity by engine oil.

Improved Performance

Combustion improvements are observed through decreased exhaust emissions - especially in the reduction of hydrocarbons (HC), which are, primarily, unburned fuel. Chemisorption of iron and reformulator molecules form "iron soap" - a non-oil lubricant - which increases the longer that Omstar d-1280x is used. Independent, 2-month long test results showed a 29.2% average smoke opacity reduction, which improved to a 66.7% reduction at the 9-month mark. Thus, the longer that Omstar d-1280x is used, the greater the improvement in engine performance and engine life.
