Omstar increases engine performance and fuel efficiency by cleaning and lubricating engine parts and components. The following photographs were taken during various demonstations conducted by Omstar. They document the advantages of using fuel treated with Omstar R-4000 in an industrial power generator. Similar results can be expected when using any of our high quality Omstar Products in a variety of practical applications.
Asphaltenes and Sulfur
Bunker fuel has common properties: color, viscosity, and contaminants. The color of Bunker residue is always dark - arising from asphaltenes in the crude oil. During the refining of crude oil, high percentages of asphaltenes will arise in the residual fuels. The pre-heating of fuel oils prior to their burning encourages the precipitation of asphaltenes and coking. Asphaltene content in the fuel results in ignition delay and poor combustion. This will cause engine/boiler fouling, poor heat transfer, stack solid emission and corrosion, amongst other problems. Asphaltenes are insoluble in oil and when separated are shiny, black, and very hard. The common test for asphaltenes; IP 148, is used to determine the presence and amount of asphaltenes in petroleum. A contaminant also found in nearly all fuels is sulfur. Environmental laws in most countries have required a reduction in the amounts of sulfur that can be combusted. Sulfur can be removed from fuels, but the cost is high. Omstar helps mitigate these problems.
